Rock Band Policy
Rock Band Scheduling Policy
The primary goal of our rock band program is to provide a consistent and enjoyable experience which allows our students to get the most out of learning / rehearsing in a band setting. Our program is billed on a monthly tuition basis, in which there will be a mutual commitment to a regular agreed-upon weekly rehearsal time.
Scheduling:
The rock band lesson time will be communicated upon enrollment. If the need to change the regular scheduled time arises, the instructor will provide ample notice to allow for planning and, hopefully, agreement among all band members.
Students will pay a flat monthly tuition based on their rock band program, which will be quoted prior to starting. The instructor will commit to weekly rehearsals at the regular lesson time indefinitely while the band is active in the program, with exception to the following holidays where there will be no scheduled rehearsals, in any case where the normal rehearsal time conflicts:
Music Flow Holidays / Rehearsals Recess Days:
New Year’s Day - Jan 1st (observed day)
Spring Break Week - Based on Bend - La Pine school calendar
Spring Recitals Week - TBA
Memorial Day
Independence Day - July 4th (observed day)
Summer Week - 1 calendar week in either June, July, or August TBA *
Labor Day
Fall Recitals Week - TBA
Thanksgiving & Black Friday
Christmas / Winter Holidays Break - Dec 24th thru Dec 31st
*Notes:
Summer: The instructor will communicate a rehearsal recess/vacation week during Jun/Jul/Aug of the instructor’s choosing by April 30th to the students.
Re-scheduling policy:
Generally, there will be no re-scheduling of rock band rehearsals due to the limited availability of studio time during the week.
Student Absences:
Tuition will not be credited if the student is unable to attend the planned rehearsal time, for any reason, including illness. In the case of illness, the student should not attend rehearsal (visibly showing symptoms of illness). If a student is deemed to be visibly ill during rehearsal by the instructor, the instructor has the right to remove the student from rehearsal.
Instructor-Cancellations:
In the case of the instructor having a scheduling conflict or illness arise during the planned rehearsal time, Music Flow will likely provide a substitute instructor in this case. If there are no instructors available for the rehearsal, it will be cancelled, and the students will receive a tuition credit equal to 25% of the regular tuition rate for each Music Flow - cancelled lesson.
Make-up policy:
Under no circumstances will the instructor hold make-up lessons for students to use at a future point.
Initial Enrollment:
The initial month of lessons will be prorated based on which week the first regular lesson day falls on.
- If there are 4 or more remaining rehearsal dates in the initial month, the initial month’s tuition is 100%.
- If there are 3 remaining rehearsal dates in the initial month, the initial month’s tuition is 75%.
- If there are 2 remaining rehearsal dates in the initial month, the initial month’s tuition is 50%.
- If there is 1 remaining rehearsal dates in the initial month, the initial month’s tuition is 25%.
Discontinuing Lessons:
Discontinuation notice from the student must be communicated by the 25th of the month prior, to discontinue as of the upcoming month.
If an unforeseen circumstance arises where Music Flow can no longer accommodate the regular rehearsal time, it is encouraged for the students and instructor to agree upon a new regular rehearsal time. However in this case, the student has the right to discontinue the program immediately, and to receive a prorated credit/refund determined by Music Flow.
Inclement weather:
The instructor will communicate any potential weather-related cancellations of rehearsal earlier in the day, and will make a decision. If a rock band rehearsal must be cancelled due to weather, the student will receive a a 15% tuition credit for that month.
Code of Conduct:
Parents:
may sit in on the rehearsal as space allows, and at the instructor’s discretion based on the space needed and based on the band’s playing needs.
Students are expected to:
be attentive and respectful toward the instructor and other students
bring a high level of energy to be ready to play and follow the instructor’s cues
clean up any items used or brought to rehearsals
have a high level of care for any equipment used in the studio, asking the instructor for guidance on equipment as needed
complete any assignments on song parts outside of rehearsals given by the instructor, maintaining consistent practice at home as needed
Note:
The instructor will have complete discretion to determine if a student may not be best fit for the rock band program. If a student is not meeting expectations for the program, the instructor will first attempt to resolve this with the student and parent(s). The instructor may remove a student from the program at any point / at the instructor’s discretion if these items are not resolved.
